Hi California Rain,
The meaning of a rose’s color depends a little bit on what source you use; however, the generally accepted meanings are:
Yellow = Joy/Friendship
White = Innocence/Purity
Black = Death (to recipient)/Farewell (disagreement on this)
Pink = Admiration
Blue (how about lavender?) = Enchantment
Green = (none)
Orange = Desire/Excitement
Red = Love/Romance
Some interesting links below (I like the first one because it is a little more straight forward).
I hope this is of some help to you.

Jenny asks…
Is Green a shade of Blue or is Blue a shade of Green?
I’m trying to figure out of the words blue and green are related for linguistics class. I’m thinking they might be hyponyms, but I need to know how they are related. For example Rose is a hyponym and flower is a hypernym. Meaning a rose is a kind of flower. Could green be a hyponym and blue be a hypernym or vice versa?? Help!!

Order Flowers Delivery Expert answers:
Sorry, it’s not hyponym (meanings that are included in another word). Scarlet, vermilion, crimson are all hyponyms of red ie shades of that colour. Blue and green are not primary colours (blue is, green is not, it’s secondary) and neither is a shade of the other, although as I answered before, you get green by putting the two primaries Blue and Yellow together.
